Training For Eternity | AS BOLD AS LIONS DEVOTIONAL | June 14, 2023

The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever. Isaiah 40:8

If the past few years have shown us anything, they have proven that life is unpredictable. A week or a month goes by and we look back and marvel at all that has taken place. Most of us would rather not live through much in recent memory. But the time and season we are in seems to be prolonged and never-ending; despite all the twists and turns in this world. All that aside, when you look back, is it possible to see the hand of the Lord leading your life even through the uncertainty?

Into all of the chaos, we are reminded the simple truth of Isaiah 40:8 which states God’s word is eternal. It is not a word that changes from day to day or gets new updates and adjustments. It’s not a word that was once true and now is debunked or seen as “fake news.” It’s a timeless truth that we can plant our feet upon. We know His word is life to those who will keep and follow it. In return, those who choose to follow Christ are being prepared and readied for a life beyond this one. If we look at our world too long without proper perspective, we find no hope. But if we look up to One who stands above it all, we see our lives in the light of eternity. This place is not our home…we are training for the one to come!

Question for today: How am I living my life with an eternal perspective today?

Pray: Lord I thank You that Your word is timeless. Help me draw strength and hope from it daily.
