Cows calving on spring grass in warm weather is hard to beat. We simply learned many years ago that it is best not to fight mother nature. You calve when deer are dropping their fawns, most problems are solved with this one change. If you decide to calve in the early winter than get ready for health issues in your livestock herd. Not a single deer is dropping fawns in snowbanks or during freezing weather, why should you?

If you want to keep your farm profitable every year, check out my 3 grazing books that I wrote on our website: http://greenpasturesfarm.net/books/
