However, the solar industry, and a group of Democrats in the Senate, supported Biden's decision, citing the central role of solar energy in his carbon-free electricity sector plan. The two-year moratorium on penalties against solar cells and modules exported from Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam will remain in place until June 2024.
