Munda Biddi Section 9 & 10 Ride through

Hello MTBF volunteers,
I just want to send out a quick update to let you know about some volunteering that has been happening on the Munda Biddi Trail.
On Saturday 13th May, I had the opportunity to ride sections 10 and 9 (in that order) to clean a Stop sign and take my friends through the tree tunnel on section 10.

As well as achieving the above two items (cleaning the Stop sign and riding through the tree tunnel) we also spent some time trimming back the over hanging branches to make the tree tunnel clearer to ride through. There were quite a few “face whacker” branches that we cleared out of the way so now you can ride the tree tunnel without having to duck and weave through the “face whackers”.

Section 10 has what I consider to be one of the jewels in the crown of the Munda Biddi Trail with what looks like an infinite tree tunnel. You’ll be pleased to know that it is not infinite but it is a most delightful and enjoyable ride.
I thoroughly recommend it as a day ride from Jarrahdale.

Park up in Jarrahdale and follow the MB trail in a northerly direction. Ride along double track for a couple of Kms. After crossing Boundary Road, pick up the old tram line around which the tree tunnel has formed. The tree tunnel goes right up to the old Balmoral POW camp. See a copy of section 9 & 10 maps attached.

Along the way we also replaced the odd faded or damaged sign plate.

We even spotted an obvious mistake that we were able to correct.

After about 5hrs out on the trail, it was late afternoon by the time we headed home.
