did you know the aye-aye, a type of lemur found only in #Madagascar, has a unique way of finding food? Using their specialized middle finger, which is long, thin, and curved, aye-ayes tap on trees to locate insect larvae hidden inside. This tapping creates echoes, which the aye-aye can detect using its large ears, allowing it to pinpoint the exact location of the larvae. Once it has located its prey, the aye-aye uses its sharp teeth to gnaw a hole in the tree, and then uses its long finger to extract the larvae. While they may look a bit strange, aye-ayes play an important role in their ecosystem as seed dispersers and predators of insects and small animals.
