Lesson 1: To Know God
Have you tried making something like a castle out of the sand, a tower out of Lego
blocks, or an animal out of Play-Doh? Did that make you feel happy? You know someone
also made the world, the sky, plants, stars, the moon, the sun, the birds that fly, fish
that swim, and all the animals. Everything you see was made by God! No one created
God; He has always been there before anything else ever was. God has also made you,
and you belong to Him. Everything in the universe belongs to God, and He cares about
everything He created. That’s why He is very important. He can see you, hear you, and help you.
Do you think you should know Him? Yes! The most important thing in the whole world
is to know God personally. Knowing God should be your life’s main goal. That’s because
everything you understand about God will shape your whole life. Do you want to have
joy and do the right thing? Would you like to know the truth about yourself and this
world? You need to know what God has to say about it all; then, you can make the right
choices and have the right feelings about everything.
Did you know that every house is only as strong as its foundation? The foundation is
the base that is at the very bottom of the house; it is what the house is built on. What
you build your life on also matters! Your life will only be as good as your foundation. If
your foundation is made up of opinions and feelings, then it has a very weak foundation.
That’s because sometimes our opinions and feelings are wrong. That’s like building a
house on jiggly Jell-O! It will not be sturdy. But, if your life’s foundation is based on
what the Bible teaches, you will have a very strong foundation like cement. In fact, it is
the only foundation that will last. When your life is based on what the Bible teaches, it
will reach the goodness that God desires for your life. So, set your heart, mind and your
eyes on God’s Word, the Bible.

Dear God, thank You for being the Creator of everything in the universe! Thank You for
creating me and the people around me. Please help me build my life on Your Word by
following Your direction so that my life can be good and strong. Amen.
