Today we're taking a look at the Sentinel race in No Man's Sky, and how they'll impact the lives of adventurers and explorers looking for new planets, resources, and life. The Sentinels are described as a "race" of self replicating robots that act as overseers to the various planets, although it appears not every planet with have sentinels. Not true antagonists, the sentinels seem happy to simply passively mill about until an explorer does something to upset the balance. This has been described as mining too heavily, killing the wildlife, or in one case of gameplay, blowing out the door to a building on the planets surface with the multi-tool. From there the game's wanted system kicks in, allowing the player to accrue up to five stars of a wanted level, with bigger and more powerful sentinels coming each level.

What is particularly interesting is an instance where Sean Murray, the founder of Hello Games and one of the developers for No Man's Sky, mentions that "...they will send bigger and bigger kind of sentinels after me, eventually ships, freighters, that kind of thing” in a 21 minute gameplay he did for IGN. That was particularly interesting, as mostly the Sentinels had been shown as the typical drone, biped, and quadruped, with the occasional mention of the Sentinel Interceptors. So the question is, just how BIG can the Sentinels get? Just how much firepower will they toss at a player to finally wipe them out? For someone looking to run and gun, that could provide quite the showdown!

That leads me to the question of the video, how will YOU interact with the Sentinels? Will you take what you want and blast them away if you have to? Will you try to explore peacefully and stay out of their way? Feel free to let me know in the comments section below, much love ya'll!
