Top news right now: Two members of "the Squad," Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Cori Bush, were the only Democrats who voted against a resolution honoring police officers killed in the line of duty. The resolution, which passed with unanimous support from Republicans and nearly all Democrats, memorialized law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty and expressed condolences to their loved ones. However, Tlaib and Bush uttered the only nays heard from the House floor during the vote on National Police Week. This comes as several representatives in the "Squad" have a history of anti-police rhetoric. Despite this, fellow members Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Ayanna Pressley voted in favor of the resolution. The passed resolution offered "unwavering support" for law enforcement officers and recognized them as heroes.
