DESTROYING My Lawn to Make it BETTER

This project sounded great when I started. I rented a sod cutter to cut up the grass where I will be installing an irrigation line in hopes that it will recover faster when the sod is put back than it would if the grass had to grow in completely new. We shall see 😬😬😬. Right now it just feels like my lawn is completely wrecked so I need a little encouragement here!
