Does Elon Musk HURT Tesla more than he helps?

At Tesla's annual shareholder meeting, multiple investors expressed further concerns that Elon Musk is to involved in other projects or the brand itself suffers from his antics in the public spotlight, does this sort of thing cause more pain than it's worth?
