A fire at a massive bread factory in Sydney threatens to stretch the state’s supply this week.

Goodman Fielder, the umbrella company that owns brands like Helga’s, Mighty Soft and WonderWhite, has warned NSW customers they may face a “shortage of products”.

“Unfortunately, the site sustained considerable damage to our bakery production line, and we are still working through the full extent of the impact,” a spokesperson said.

“We are doing everything we can to minimise disruption to our customers and consumers.”

The company said while the shortages could be minimal, customers should be aware as to why shelves look a little light in the coming days.

Footage captured the moment the factory in Sydney’s west began billowing smoke as workers escaped.
