Wild Wild West (1965 - 1969)

🎞 PLOT
The plot of The Wild Wild West revolved around two Secret Service agents: the courageous and attractive James West and Artemus Gordon, a clever gadgeteer, and master of disguise. Their purpose was to keep President Ulysses S. Grant and the United States safe from any dangers. The spies traveled in style on the Wanderer, their own train outfitted with everything from a stable car to a laboratory. During the American Civil War (1861–1865), James West worked on Grant's staff as an intelligence and cavalry officer.
The show combined classic Western themes with an espionage thriller, science fiction/alternate history notions (akin to what would eventually be known as steampunk), horror, and humor.
Edgar Allan Poe, H. G. Wells, and Jules Verne were other inspirations for episodes. There were always gorgeous ladies, sophisticated devices, and deluded arch-enemies with half-crazy schemes to take over the country or the globe in the spirit of James Bond.
