UN releases plan to wipe out 80% of plastic pollution in two decades

A United Nations Environment Programme report published on Tuesday called for the end of fossil fuel subsidies as part of their long-term efforts to drastically cut plastic pollution levels. According to the report, the world generated 139 million metric tons of single-use plastic waste in 2021. The report offered a roadmap for governments and businesses to use to slash plastic pollution by primarily focusing on recycling, reusing, and utilizing alternative materials.
