There is Life Beyond Addiction with Craig Brown | Episode 113

God never wastes our pain, says our guest on today's episode.

Craig Brown grew up masking deep inner pain. Always pressured to put on the face of "the perfect family," Craig lacked an outlet to express the pains and insecurities that all children experience. The turn to drugs in 1980's Washington D.C. was not a surprising one in hindsight.

After breaking free of his shame, addiction, and hyper-focus on self, Craig focuses on helping Christians look beyond the superficial smiles they see at Sunday services. To be more aware of the struggles that we all face, and how to go beyond a 12-step sobriety program, but to seek spiritual renewal.

In this interview with Craig, you'll hear:
00:00 Introduction
04:15 Craig operated in a pit of darkness before confronting his fears
09:10 You'll never change until your pain is greater than your fear of changing
14:15 Your entire life structure is focused on self when battling addiction
17:15 Go to church to heal, not to hide
19:30 How to become more aware of the struggles behind the smiles you see every Sunday at church
23:50 We need to have the courage to be a safe space for those dealing with mental health issues
27:00 Recognize darkness and depression in those among you and take the action they need

And much more...
