Amanda McIllmurray is a lifelong Philadelphian, working-class queer woman, daughter of union members, and an organizer running for City Council At Large to win good jobs, safe schools, stable housing, and holistic approaches to community safety for all neighbors. She's committed to fully funding every neighborhood school regardless of ZIP code, race, or income, fighting for affordable housing, tackling gun violence, and supporting workers in every industry. As the first openly queer Council Member and the youngest member of council, Amanda is ready to lead and stand up to political bosses, developers, and education privatizers to win a better Philadelphia for families.

Amanda's focus is on ensuring housing stability and affordability for all. She has personal experience with eviction and understands the importance of homeownership and renters' rights. If elected, she plans to fight for policies such as rent control, tenant protections, increased funding for building inspections, and expanding access to legal counsel for those facing eviction.

Amanda shares her personal experiences growing up in a family of proud union members and working multiple jobs to make ends meet. She believes that what's best for workers is what's best for businesses, and her platform focuses on protecting and strengthening the rights of all workers, making it easier to unionize, and creating good, secure, family-sustaining jobs.
