Utopia Pt 2: The Nightmare Of Total “Equality”

Just my .02c of course. It is what it is. Side note: when you have a chance do check out the short story #HarrisonBergeron by #KurtVonnegut, or the short film #2081. I incorporated as much as I could of the film without risking a strike but they’re definitely worth reading and watching.

Personally I feel this obsession we have with perfection or the pursuit of it is a type of madness. It appears to me that by design, perfection is unattainable in this reality so the idea that some strange idea of “perfect” can be actualised here is a bit like narcissus falling in love with this idealised version of his reflection…or like chasing a mirage in a desert.

So if perfection is unattainable then essentially you should simply seek health/homeostasis.

As a recovering perfectionist, something I like to say to myself is: “good enough is good enough,” and “anything appearing perfect is artificial/unnatural.” When looking at a plant at the dinner table at a restaurant for example, the first thing I look for are signs of wilting or browning to see if it’s a real plant. It’s the “flaws” that tell me the plant is real.
