Actor Farooq passed away ।

Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooq, actor of Bengali films, member of parliament, brave freedom fighter, passed away. He died at 10 am local time on Monday while undergoing treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raziun). His son Roshan Hossain Pathan confirmed the news of his death to This morning, Roshan told Prothom Alo that actor Farooq's body will be brought to Dhaka on an early morning flight on Tuesday ।

He was 74 years old. He is survived by his wife and two children ।

Actor Farooq was undergoing treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore for a long time. This actor and politician was undergoing treatment in this hospital for eight years. He last went to Singapore for a regular health check-up in early March 2021. Blood tests revealed infection. Since then he was feeling physically ill. He was quickly admitted to the hospital on the advice of a doctor he knew in Singapore. After a few days of hospitalization, he was also diagnosed with a brain infection. He was being treated there. But in the end the treatment failed. He breathed his last at 10am Singapore local time today.

Farooq was born on August 18, 1948. He made his film debut in Dhaka in 1971 by acting in the film 'Jalchhabi' directed by H Akbar. Kabri was opposite him in the first movie. Then in 1973, he acted in supporting roles in the liberation war-based film 'Abar Tora Manhoo Ha' directed by Khan Ataur Rahman and in 1974 Narayan Ghosh Mita's 'Alor Michil'.

Actor Farooq has contributed to Dhallywood for nearly five decades. After retiring from acting, he was elected as a member of parliament for the first time in Dhaka-17 constituency as a candidate of Awami League in the 11th National Parliament election.
