From the Marine Corps to Real Estate: A Veteran's Guide to Adapting to New Markets

Brandon Baca, a Marine Corps veteran and a 15-year real estate brokerage owner, has built a coaching program for his team of 100 agents. In a conversation with me, Brandon talks about how he has adapted to new markets, managing his brokerage in multiple states, and shares his insights about the current state of the real estate market.

Brandon explains how the accessibility of virtual communication, especially due to the pandemic, has made it easier to manage his real estate brokerage in multiple markets. He highlights the importance of adapting to new technologies to revolutionize the real estate industry.

When asked about overcoming limiting beliefs, Brandon shares how his military training taught him to form new identities around challenging situations and build a mindset that persists through difficulty. He encourages agents to challenge their limiting beliefs and find ways to adapt to new markets.

Regarding the current state of the real estate market, Brandon notes that while inventory is down, this presents an opportunity for sellers. He advises agents to reach out to their network and let them know that if they put their house on the market now, it will likely sell quickly if priced right. Brandon encourages agents to focus on sales activities that will bring in business right away, rather than just on marketing and social media.

As a coach, Brandon believes that every agent should master fundamentals such as making outbound calls. He also notes that different agents may have different strengths, and he works with them to find their groove and build on that. He encourages agents to focus on the opportunities that exist and to keep pushing forward.

Brandon stresses that work should serve the most important thing in one's life, which, for him, is his family. He believes that setting deadlines and prioritizing one's time can help achieve a balance between work and family. By setting daily deadlines and finishing work at 5:30 pm, he ensures that he has time for dinner with his family.

In conclusion, Brandon Baca's military mindset has helped him adapt to new markets and thrive in the real estate industry. By utilizing new technologies and challenging limiting beliefs, he encourages agents to work harder and focus on sales activities that will bring in business. He emphasizes that work should serve the most important thing in one's life, such as family, and that setting deadlines and prioritizing time can help achieve a balance between work and family.
