10 Commandments vs The Law

The Bible makes it incredibly clear that keeping the Old Testament Law is not necessary for salvation. In fact, it is actually detrimental. But, many Faith Plus Works "Christians" tell me that The Law is just referring to "Ceremonial Law"; things like Abstaining from eating Pork and Not wearing Mixed Fabrics. They say that Christians still need to keep the 10 Commandments. Is this true?
