How NASA is Trying to Protect Earth from Killer Solar Storms

Solar storms are a major threat to Earth, and they can cause widespread damage to power grids, communication networks, and other critical infrastructure. In the worst cases, they could even knock out the power grid entirely, leaving millions of people without electricity for days or even weeks.

NASA is working on a new way to predict solar storms, and they think they may be able to give us as much as 30 minutes of warning before a major storm hits. This would give us time to take steps to protect ourselves, such as shutting down power grids and communication networks.

The new prediction system is called DAGGER, and it uses artificial intelligence to analyze data from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory. DAGGER is still under development, but it has already been able to predict several solar storms with a high degree of accuracy.

If NASA is successful, DAGGER could save lives and billions of dollars in damage. It would also give us a better understanding of solar storms, and help us to prepare for future events.
