The Ghost Town is a zone behind the Szentkiralyszabadja airport formed by an abandoned Russian barracks and its residential area. The "Soviet-style" barracks were built in the 1960s. Russian and Ukrainian soldiers served at the base and almost formed their own subculture. The barrack town also had a separate school, kindergarten, cinema and shops. However, during the breakup of the Soviet Union, more and more soldiers and his family left the duty station, so by the beginning of the 1990s the area was almost completely uninhabited. Now nature has also taken back what was his: bushes, thickets, wooded areas and weeds covered the former Soviet town. The abandoned there are several panel buildings and brick houses. Slide films can still be hung up in the former cinema building, and the stage and booths can be seen in the theater area. In the kindergarten building, the walls are still decorated with colorful paintings of fairy-tale characters. The reinforced concrete panel buildings stand steeply skyward, and though all within are battered down, their walls and steps are still standing.
Mapping the area can be an unforgettable experience for everyone.
