Tonight's Blended readings - Jesus Defends His Sabbath Healings-( John 5:10-48)- More Sabbath Controversy- (Matthew 12:1-14; Mark 2:23-3:6; Luke 6:1-11)- Jesus Withdraws and Crowds Follow- (Matthew 12:15-21; Mark 3:7-12; Luke 6:17-19- Jesus Appoints His Twelve Apostles- (Mark 3:13-19; Luke 6:12-16)

Tonight's reflection was on having mercy, compassion and humility. These healings taught us a few things and one big item that stuck out to me is how Jesus was trying to teach the Pharisees. Our Lord was trying to teach the religious leaders a very important lesson and that was having some compassion, humility and being merciful even in victory. The religious leaders weren't having any of that because they continued to mock Jesus, and which led them to even harder hearts. Where the Pharisees failed the ones healed prevailed because they understood that Jesus was truly the Son of God. Jesus demonstrates pure love and compassion in His healings and instead of seeking His own glory, He allowed the ones healed to be great witnesses of the greatness and power of God. Jesus even taught us that sometimes doing good means going against the grain, and so that means doing good can the hardest thing you can do, but reaps a great reward in the end that leads to eternal life.
