There isnt too much lore on how pilots are augmented. But via deductive reasoning, we can probably assumed these are not just regular human beings. Pilot augmentations have to alter the skeleton, muscles, and circulatory system minimum. Their abilities to punch machines, one hit kill other humans, fall from great heights, recover from injuries that would easily kill a regular person.
