The Porsche 914 or VW-Porsche 914, depending one where it was
purchased, was a mid-engine sports car designed, manufactured
and marketed in a collaboration between Volkswagen and
Porsche from 1969 to 1976.

Production for the 914 failed before it ever began with
the death of the Volkswagen's Chairmen Heinrich Nordhoff.
His successor was not connected to the Porsche dynasty or
the verbal agreement made between the two companies prior to
the chairman's death.

Kurt Lotz, the new Chairman believed Volkswagen had all the
rights to the 914. This lead to deputes between the two companies
resulting in higher manufacturing costs, to the point where
the 914/6 didn't cost much less than the 911T.

The 914 held Import car of the Year in the 1970's
Motor Trend Magazine and becoming one of Porsche's top sellers,
out selling the 911 by over 100,000 units, worldwide.

Sadly the 914 fell out of favor over time and production was
discontinued in 1976. Leaving the once loved Volkswagen-Porsche
in the dusty garage of forgotten vehicles.
