AS MANY AS RECEIVED HIM -TO THEM, HE GAVE

Have you ever heard someone say about a fellow Christian that he is an inch deep and a mile wide? What do you suppose they meant by that?
To do that, let's take a snapshot of the church and what that statement would mean concerning the spiritual understanding of those sitting in the pews.
Of course, each local church is like a family unit. They are all slightly different in their understanding of God and the kingdom. So this is not a statement about every Christian in every church. It's more of a review of the thousands of people I have worked and lived with.
The condition of immaturity and carnality stems from the fact that people who love Jesus yet will have no clue what their potential is in Christ. Because a major emphasis of the church has to do with getting saved and going to heaven, there is often very little's emphasis on why we are here in the first place.
John 1:12 makes this statement;" as many, as received him to them, gave him the power to become the sons of God." What I am concerned about in the modern church is that they will receive what God intends them to be.
Jesus did not die on the cross so we could go to heaven only. That's a byproduct of the cross.
The main reason that Jesus died on the cross, and rose from the dead, was to bring us back to our original position with the Father as sons, kings, and priests unto God.
Heaven is not where that is needed; the authority He's giving us is for this earth and the season that we are here to rule and reign through the work that Jesus provided for us.
My quest, is to focus on receiving the kingdom of God in all it's fullness, and understand his plan, so that I might fulfill the purpose of God on earth that he has given me.
