Theists often claim that religion is useful, and thereby beneficial to humanity, regardless of whether or not any religion is true. The claims tackled here include: Religion motivates charity and selflessness, religion motivates scientific inquiry, and religion provides moral standards.

Do atheists have morals? Are religious people more charitable? Was Einstein religious? The answers to these questions do not back up this argument for religion.
