Flor Alvidrez is a candidate for Denver City Council District 7 on June 6, 2023.

Flor Alvidrez is a small business owner, daughter of District 7, and a community leader running for Denver City Council on June 7, 2023. She grew up in the district and attended Denver Public Schools. Her entrepreneurial spirit comes from her parents, who started a small concrete contracting company. Flor has been actively involved in various community organizations, such as the Athmar Park Neighborhood Association, the Latino Cultural Arts Center, and the West Side Advancing Equity in Rezoning Task Force. She has also graduated from the Latino Leadership Institute at DU and the Circle of Latina Leadership.

Flor is committed to delivering solutions to the big challenges facing District 7 and the growing city of Denver. Rising crime rates, inflation, and the cost of living have worsened the housing crisis in Denver, and small businesses in the area continue to close. Flor's leadership experience and advocacy skills make her the ideal candidate to tackle these issues and advocate for her community.

Flor has a comprehensive plan for District 7 that covers issues like safety, housing affordability, small business support, homelessness, mobility, and sustainability. Flor's vision for a clean and safe Denver includes activating public spaces for community connection, increasing park and community gathering spaces, and prioritizing pedestrian safety. She also plans to address housing affordability by updating zoning regulations and providing assistance to first-time homebuyers and those impacted by redlining. Flor is committed to supporting small and locally-owned businesses and expanding access to capital for women and BIPOC-owned businesses. She has a comprehensive plan for addressing homelessness that includes providing rental and mortgage assistance, expanding emergency shelter programs, and working with neighboring governments to ensure that resources are distributed equitably.

Flor also believes in prioritizing safety for pedestrians and expanding affordable and reliable public transportation options. She has a long-term vision for Denver that involves creating training programs and lowering educational requirements for entry-level positions to ensure that people with low incomes are not left behind in the city's economic growth.
