Billionaire and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates established TerraPower in 2008, and the company is now launching a novel nuclear power plant in Kemmerer, Wyoming. The plant is intended to revolutionize the U.S. nuclear energy industry, with the objective of combatting climate change and promoting American energy self-sufficiency. According to Gates, “If nuclear energy is executed correctly, it can assist us in achieving our climate objectives by eliminating greenhouse gas emissions without significantly increasing electricity costs or jeopardizing reliability.”
