Beginning May 8th, a 72 hour deadline before the court served eviction was served for the homeless/squatter camp in the private property behind the Winco Foods and Lowes stores of Bellis Fair area of Bellingham WA.

The encampment has been in flux from 100s to dozens and has been active from a few months to some saying longer for a year or so. Many attributed their time on the streets/in the encampment to Covid era policies/circumstances though some have distanced themselves from that being a reason, but in any case they are being served an eviction and have started removing themselves with assistance from housing/mutual aid services as seen in the morning leading up to the move out of 4049 Deemer Road.

Various people including members of the Whatcom Community came down even some driving from around the neighborhood to decry the location of the squatters/homeless encampment and even some had followed up with recording of the occurrence of homeless evictions, even to the displeasure and even revolt of several of the people who Identified as those invoking "Squatter's rights" in the Bellingham, WA area.

Those that were around largely left without altercation though this has only been recorded at the very start of the homeless eviction and may occur in dates after the date of this recording.

This was recorded in Bellingham, WA on May 8th, 2023.
