Star Trek fans know that when the doors open and close on the show's starships, they make a distinctive whooshing sound. Michael Coleman of SoundWorks Collection videos filled Wired in on some of the techniques used to capture noises for the series by sound designers, including the flushing toilet recording used for the doors.
