Timelapse satellite imagery recorded over 24 hours between May 7 and 8 captured multiple flashes of lightning as several thunderstorms impacted the central and southeastern United States. The video was posted by the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA), which works in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and depicts lightning as blue flashes.
