Canada: Federal ministers announce funding for Indigenous shelters – May 8, 2023

At a news conference on Parliament Hill, federal ministers announce funding to build and operate 178 new shelter spaces and transitional homes for Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQI+ people who are fleeing family and gender-based violence. Taking part in the announcement are ministers Ahmed Hussen (housing and diversity and inclusion), Patty Hajdu (Indigenous Services) and Marc Miller (Crown-Indigenous relations), as well as Liberal MP Jaime Battiste.
