Like anything of substance, budgeting takes PRACTICE! On average, you will learn ~80% or more of how to make budgeting work for you after only three months of putting your zero-based budget into practice. This is true for married couples as well even though budgeting in marriage is itself a whole different ball game.

In today's story, Jay shares how his three months of practicing budgeting with Amanda went. Spoiler alert: it wasn't pretty... The good news is that this season of giving each other grace to learn how to budget together has yielded a fruitful and life-giving habit for their marriage. What can you learn from their example and their mistakes to help your HopeFilled financial future grow?

The budget tip today is simple: if you break the budget, fix it. Don't let it be broken and ignore it for the rest of the month. When the unexpected strikes, or you overspend a particular category, how do you fix it? How do you manage fixing your budget in the middle of the month when you are married?

Our listener question asks us to expand on wedding budgets for different types of weddings. Jay dives into big vs small weddings, local vs destination weddings, and traditional vs original weddings. The expanded discussion on wedding budgets can really help you if you have a wedding budget in your future!
