On July 10th, 2022, a high-speed chase in Mount Dora, Florida ended with an 18-year-old named Jonny Santiago crashing his truck into a synagogue. This dramatic incident was caught on body and dash cam video released by the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

It all started with a call from Jonny's mother, who was concerned about an argument between Jonny and his father in their Deltona home. While she was on the phone with her husband, Juan Santiago, violence erupted, and investigators believe that Jonny killed his father. Juan has been missing since that night, and family members have flown in from out-of-state to help find him.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office believes that the argument was about using the family truck, and that things got out of hand when Juan refused to let Jonny take it. The argument continued even as Jonny's mother was on the phone with Juan, who was in New York at the time.

During the high-speed chase, Jonny faced off against Lake County deputies and engaged in a shootout. He now faces several charges, including attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, discharging a firearm from a vehicle in public, and aggravated fleeing and eluding lights and sirens.
