I'm standing on my yoga mat, getting ready to start the Sun Salutation routine. My hands are folded in front of my chest in a prayer pose. I say the first mantra, my hands are stretched up, and when I say the second mantra, they go down and touch the floor, as a bow to the greatest power - the Sun. I have a slight smile on my face that accompanies each posture of Surya Namaskar along with the repetition of mantras. All my Sun Salutation practice becomes sacred. For example, Om Bhanave Namaha means "one who brings light." As you say this mantra, feel deep gratitude to the Sun for the light that it gives us and makes life possible on this planet. Chanting "Om Mitraya Namaha" - feel that you are addressing the Sun as a friend.
