ICON FOR HIRE, Incredible Rock Band - Artist Spotlight "You Can't Kill Us" "Supposed to Be"
Kevin and Brian are back to talk about a fantastic female fronted rock band they've seen live, ICON FOR HIRE!
Since their formation in 2007, this husband and wife duo comprised of Ariel Bloomer and Shawn Jump have released five studio albums, the latest being the independently released "Amorphous" in February 2021. Their infectious mix of hard rock, electronic, and hip hop gives us a sound and style that is completely unique in today's music landscape. And we can attest from personal experience that their live show is energetic and extremely fun to experience.
Both Ariel and Shawn are friendly and approachable individuals, making it easy to love them even more. Throughout their music, they have consistently focused on trying to help fans, particularly younger ones, through difficult times in their lives. Ariel even wrote an autobiographical book on the subject entitled "Turn Your Pain Into Art". Among the many Icon For Hire songs we love are "Off With Her Head", "Last One Standing", "You Can't Kill Us", and "Supposed to Be".
So if you're looking for a truly unique musical experience that will simultaneously have you bopping along and thinking deeply, be sure to check out Icon for Hire! You won't be disappointed! To follow them on line, check out:

Biographical information for Icon For Hire from Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icon_for_Hire):
Icon for Hire is an American rock band from Decatur, Illinois. Formed in 2007, the band's current lineup consists of singer Ariel Bloomer and guitarist Shawn Jump. They released two EPs independently before signing to Tooth & Nail Records, through which they released their first two albums: Scripted in 2011 and Icon for Hire on October 15, 2013. Their third album, You Can't Kill Us, was independently released on November 25, 2016. Their album, Amorphous, was released on February 19, 2021.
The band's sound combines pop punk and alternative metal elements with strings and electronics. Jamie Maxwell of Cross Rhythms describes them as a punk band, but notes that "the electronic influence evident in some of their tracks is a definite nod to the likes of Linkin Park and others in the nu metal mould." In describing the band's sound, lead singer Ariel has said that the band is "first and foremost just a rock band. That's where our roots are and where our hearts are. But a few years ago we started really getting into synths and programming. We love the combination of brutal, in-your-face riffs, with the fun candy of pop production sprinkled all over it."
Influences cited by the band have included hard rock bands like Linkin Park, Breaking Benjamin, Pantera, Mötley Crüe, and Rage Against the Machine, as well as pop- and hip hop-oriented artists such as Skrillex, The Black Eyed Peas, Dessa, and Lady Gaga.
