Hatching Coturnix Quail

A back yard quail covey can be a great source for sustainable eggs and meat. The most common way of propagating is to hatch fertilized quail eggs in an incubator. Domestic quail rarely brood and raise their own chicks. This is a video capture (speed x3) of a healthy chick in the final stages of hatching. It can take hours for a chick to pip around the thick membrane of the egg and then takes tremendous strength to kick its way into this world 🌻
