China doesn’t have 1.4 billion people. Its population is under 1 billion.

Recently, India became the world’s most populous country. But India might have taken over China a while ago. People question China’s claimed population of 1.4 billion. Yi Fuxian, a leading expert on China’s demographic data, has said that Beijing inflates its population and fertility rate. The Russians and the Japanese estimated that China’s population might be as long as 800 million.
