Although the title of this video refers to corns, the raised areas on the tops of this patient's toes are actually scars. These scars are the result of wearing tight-fitting shoes, using corn plasters and acids on top of the toes, and picking at the lesions. Although they don't cause pain, these scars can have a significant impact on a person's quality of life. Patients often report avoiding certain types of footwear, experiencing a loss of self-confidence, and avoiding travel to warmer climates. Some patients even go to great lengths to conceal these scars from their loved ones.
