Red-Bellied Piranhas are known for their sharp teeth and fierce reputation. They can be found in freshwater rivers and lakes in South America. They usually hunt in groups, using their teeth to rip apart prey such as fish and crustaceans. Despite their reputation, they're not usually a threat to humans, and only attack when they feel threatened or their food source is scarce. They have a distinctive red belly, which is where they get their name from. Red-Bellied Piranhas are important to the ecosystem as they help control the population of other aquatic animals.
