“Fat-Shaming’ Scene Removed From Bluey
In a recent episode of Bluey, dad Bandit is seen weighing himself on the bathroom scales and sighing, “Oh man… I need to do some exercise.” He’s then seen squeezing the fat around his belly. Mum Chilli also weighed herself and was disappointed with the results. Unsurprisingly, there was a backlash against this episode from body image experts, saying it could pass on weight stigmas and fatphobia to children, and many commenters demanded the scene to be removed. And the makers of the show have since capitulated and deleted the scene entirely. But was it really a problem? Showing children that sometimes people want to lose weight for their health? Apparently, it is! Apparently, wanting to lose weight is a big no-no. You have to be accepting of you body no matter how fat you are. Even though in the episode, nobody even shamed the dad. He decided on his own that he wanted to get into shape. Isn’t that a good thing?
