This was Roman’s first time in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship ring and she said it felt like a blessing and a miracle. She called it an amazing feeling unlike anything else.

When asked about the difficulties associated with being a late replacement for this bout, Roman said,

“Yes. I received the fight on eight days' notice. I honestly didn’t have much time to really prepare for it. We had to get a lot of things last minute to actually be able to take the fight. So honestly, I only had maybe about two days of actual preparation from the time that I got the call.”

Roman remarked how she has been hit bare-knuckle before and lost a tooth because of it. That situation is nothing new to her even though this is her first professional outing with BKFC. Roman says it is a very raw sensation that feels a lot worse than a glove.

Roman has a background in jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, and has also had a couple of amateur boxing bouts. So she has some insights into the sensations of gloved combat versus bare-knuckle action.

Roman felt like she held her hands too much in the Kamyron fight and should have thrown more punches. She assessed the performance where she felt she should have attacked at certain times when clear opportunities presented themselves, and Roman promised to do better next time.

Roman’s journey in this sport had an early checkpoint at the BKFC New York tryouts in Belfast. While there, Roman did some tech sparring with dual division BKFC titleholder Lorenzo Hunt. She said ‘The Juggernaut’ is her favorite BKFC fighter and it was perfect.

Roman is a hard-working single mom and mentioned that her kids were watching the fight. She knows her kids are happy and proud of her as Gabrielle Roman continues her journey in this surging combat sport.
