“The fighting Reds”
-Russian river-

“The fighting reds”
Was produced by the team of Fishin Alaska.

Location: Sportsman’s landing - Russian river ferry
Filmed & edited by Andy Ironhart and Billy.G
Fish Spices featured in video: Sockeye Salmon aka “Reds”
Gear used: TFO fly rode- 8 weight, Remington behemoth 7/8 reel, and standard Russian river flys.

Helpful tips:
1. Learn & know how your reels “drag” preforms and make sure it’s not too tight. If it’s too tight you risk snapping your line off with the hook in the fish’s mouth or pulling it out altogether.
2. Always make sure your gear is put together properly or something might come flying off like Ands Reel. ( haha)
3. The Russian river is notorious for bear sightings & you should always have some form of defense protection such as bear spray or a powerful hand gun. If you’ve never fired a handgun before, we recommend you take a safety and course of some sort to learn the proper handling of a firearm.

We hope you found this video Entertaining as well as helpful in providing some Idea of what it’s like to fish the Russian river during peak season. More to come; so, stay tuned!
