San Diego plans to widen Highway 56. Climate activists and mass transit proponents are not happy.

Traffic on Highway 56 between Poway, Rancho Penasquitos and Carmel Valley, Del Mar can be really rough. The City of San Diego finally agreed to widen the freeway. Marni von Wilpert did so reluctantly lamenting the fact that more mass transit was not integrated into all of the housing developments. Meanwhile, climate activists are upset about more cars and emissions. Imagine if they didn't expand it at all. The situation would become far worse.
