Meet “Spud”. He is an an absolutely striking grade dun gelding! He’s the perfect age at 10 years old. The pictures and video speak for themselves. He is gorgeous as can be and a very well mannered gentleman.
Standing at 14.2 hands, he reminds you of the old, hard to come by, original foundation stock horses. Sturdy, good bone and hoof under him, and built like a tank.
Calm and loving, a kind eye and a babydoll attitude, Spud is sure to win your heart instantly. He is a barn favorite!
He is a nice ride, has a comfortable walk, trot, and lope. He will also collect nicely if you ask and neck reins well. Has a nice responsive stop and reverse. He moves well off of leg pressure, and is also nice and soft on your hands.
He does everything with a willing mind and enjoys pleasing his rider. Experienced riders will enjoy his training and ability, yet a beginner can feel confident with his quiet attitude. He easily adjusts to whoever is on his back.
Spud has done some sorting and penning, and has moved and loaded steers at the roping pen. He doesn’t mind a rope being swung on his back or the chutes and gates clanging, or the dogs barking.
He was also previously used as a beginner trail horse, and it’s easy to see why. Crossing creeks, logs, down slippery banks, through the mud, around traffic or other horses, he’s perfectly capable and does everything with ease.
Level headed, sane, honest and dependable are just a few good words to describe this sweet gelding!
On the ground, he has good manners. Easy to catch, the first one to greet you at the gate. Bathes, good for the farrier, and will stand patiently for hours just enjoying being pampered and groomed like a diva. He trailers and hauls well. He is completely sound, has no vices, and sells 100% in every way.
It’s getting rather difficult to find a really honest, safe and reliable gelding these days. Not to mention one as pretty and well rounded as Spud!
His potential is unlimited, and not to mention- everyone’s favorite color!
