Dexter Family Milk Cows: Freya milking share

We are often asked about our milking set up. It's really simple, we milk tied to a post in the barn. Often using a large wheelbarrow or round bale to keep the cow from drifting away from us while milking. We train all our Dexter heifers this way. There have been moments that I wished I had a stanchion. But honestly, our heifers are so used to coming in with mom to be milked, that they easily transition on the post from baby, to first time milk cow.

Elemental Family Farm
We specialize in breeding, raising and training Dexter Family Milk Cows.
Our Dexter herd is polled, non Chondrodysplasia, non pha. Legacy registered. All are fully parent verified, using DNA and tested at UC Davis.
Our Family Herd is exceptionally well mannered and behaved, bred to some of the highest quality Irish Dexter bulls on the market. We’ve been using artificial insemination for our breeding heifers and cows for the last decade and a half. Each and every one of our Dexter milk cows have been in training, feeding our family, for a minimum of two years. Our price will include two animals, in one of two ways- A cow bred back and due to freshen soon, or a cow just freshened with a young bull calf at her side.
Message us if your interested in learning about how we raise and train our Dexter Family milking herd. We can discuss if one might be a good fit to feed and be a part of your family. All of our Dexters have been raised around our home, with children, dogs and chickens. At the bottom of the post are links to our website, Facebook page & Youtube channel.
We sell one or two fully trained family milkers per year, on our small acreage, local family farm in Renton, Washington. As we specialize in the family milk cow. We do not sell breed stock, or heifers. When available, we will sell steer calves 6-8 mo of age.
