Robert Barnes and Viva Frei - AZ Supreme Court orders lower court to CHECK THE SIGNATURES

Barnes: "What [the Court order]'s saying is you got latches completely wrong, you got the analysis of the statute and the legal challenge completely wrong, and it also laid a better articulated evidence of what the standard is in terms of evidence needed to overturn an election: basically doubt. And so it restored that standard, which also was an implicit shot at the trial court.

"And the reason courts care about signature matches is they themselves have used it to keep people off the ballot. So the level of hypocrisy and humiliation they would face be ignoring it is very high."

Two things to rule on
1. was a signature check actually done in Maricopa County?
2. what sample size do you need to overturn the election?

Lake just established legal precedent that mail-in signatures must be checked. This shuts down a lot of the ballot harvesting in Arizona by itself, Barnes says this by itself shuts down ballot harvesting in 2024, which would zero the Dems chances in state elections, but if they implement a new signature check, I'd think they'll put in a backdoor to get around it. There's no oversight whatsoever particularly from the courts.

Judge Thompson cited "latches" in dismissing Lake's signature challenge, meaning she waited too long, should've challenged the law right away instead of waiting for the election to play out and challenging the law because you don't like the results. Well, Lake WASN'T challenging the law, she was accusing Maricopa of NOT FOLLOWING IT. Impossible IMHO that a JUDGE could make a mistake like that.

The reports Lake was sanctioned are false, she was fined a few dollars for using the word undisputed about the 35k ballots being unaccounted for, otherwise the Court denied the sanctions sought by Maricopa.

This gives Lake a real chance and establishes a critical legal precedent that you have to go through your signature check protocols in AZ, and other courts around the country can cite this decision, Barnes thinks this eliminates ballot harvesting.
