President Biden reaffirms the iron-clad commitment of the U.S. to the defense of the Philippines, including its continuing support for military modernization, and stresses that both countries not only share a strong partnership but deep friendship enriched by the presence of Filipino-Americans in the U.S.

For his part, President Marcos Jr. states that the country “looks to its sole treaty partner” to strengthen alliances and partnerships in the face of the new economy, post-pandemic world and geopolitical issues in the region where the Philippines is located.
