David Icke sues IND over entry ban, petition already signed almost 30,000 times

In recent weeks there has been a lot of fuss about David Icke's visit to the Netherlands. He was scheduled to speak at a demonstration of Samen voor Nederland at Dam Square in Amsterdam. He was banned from entering the country, and the demonstration at the Dam was also banned.

Icke has been portrayed in the media as a Holocaust denier and anti-Semite, although there is no evidence of this to date. On Tuesday, an appeal was filed with the IND on his behalf.

He had asked the IND to grant this request by Thursday at the latest. The ministry said it would take the maximum six-week period for evaluation. In other words, until the end of December.

In light of this, Icke has requested an expedited procedure. Mordechaï Krispijn of Samen voor Nederland gives the case a "considerable chance" of success. He argues that the entry ban is legally untenable.

A petition titled "Free David Icke" has also been launched and has already been signed nearly 30,000 times. "With this we want to show that together we draw a line under the matter. So far and no further!" says Krispijn on Telegram.

The initiators write that Icke was unlawfully denied entry to 26 Schengen countries for two years, in violation of Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights and Article 7 of the Dutch Constitution, among other things.
