Toughness.

There's been a lot of talk regarding "toughness," over the past few years. One of the 10-billion things I learned from Coach Steve Platt was "toughness" can be one of two things: 1. An overused cliche'. 2. An aggression one chooses to perform consistently, no matter the level of convenience. Some of the toughest players I had the luxury of competing with were also the most un-flamboyant & quiet players on the team. They didn't punch lockers, bang the court in disgust, act like it was a crime for someone to knock them down, &/or allow other earthlings to intimidate them. Additionally, they ALWAYS had some form of physical disfigurement (i.e. black eye(s), crooked nose, disjointed fingers, scratches all over their bodies, &/or raspberry colored knees & elbows - just to name a few). These are the players who teammates & coaches listen to. Their vote counts. I loved these types of players.
Sean McGovern is one of those types of players. Sean was NEVER taller than anyone he faced, but he never backed down from anyone. Chuck Norris was afraid of Sean. Watch the end of this defensive stand & Sean's blockout. Those who'll go after the biggest player on the court & "stick them" on a blockout are usually "tough.”
